Cawley was a commercial litigator at sophisticated law firms before pursuing a more specialized D&O insurance career in-house at a D&O Liability Insurance carrier. In his more than fifteen years in-house, Cawley adjusted claims himself and also managed other claims attorneys, acting as a business leader at the carrier. Cawley participated in the successful resolution of hundreds of claims, coverage disputes and liability lawsuits in his career–many of them complex and some involving bet-the company situations for the insureds.
These matters usually involve lawsuits or demands made against directors, officers, employees or companies that are insured under one or several professional liability insurance policies (sometimes referred to as D&O Insurance); errors and omissions (E&O) policies; and/or legal malpractice insurance policies. Cawley also has in-depth experience with crime insurance, including the F24 Fidelity Bond purchased by banks, holding companies, and investment firms.
